Beadwindow Pty Ltd (ABN 79 142 769 159) owns and operates Q-Route.
Beadwindow's Directors are ex-Navy, and established the company in 2009 to provide an independent warfighter's perspective to decisions made by the Department of Defence, and those of its suppliers. The company was all about making sure the naval warfighter was heard by those designing, buying, and maintaining combat systems for warships.
We have been involved in some very cool stuff (and some mundane stuff, too, to be fair). Safety was intrinsic to everything encountered. However, as former operators, safety was still treated as a 'bolt-on' to the main game, and we (naively) felt it kinda got in the way (of the cool stuff). Read more here.
Then, children arrived and the family expanded. Jetsetting to consult on cool things became frowned upon. The Navy re-entered our life with a couple of years back in uniform as the Principal at one of its Schools. 'Safety' gained new meaning: it was marvellous what personal accountability did for one's perspective..
When the second stint in Navy concluded, a pointed question was asked at home: would mail be (metaphorically) redirected back to the Qantas Club? The answer was, emphatically, 'no'.
So, off to TAFE for re-training as a gentleman's barber. No-one afforded an opportunity to consolidate those new skills; so, a new business was created to facilitate that, with its designed centred upon safe operation for both barber and clients. Man o' War Barber's rolled out of the driveway (yes, a fully fitted-out barbershop on wheels) - just in time for the COVID pandemic's arrival in Victoria and its never-ending cycle of lockdowns. Bedding down new skills became a haphazard affair for the next couple of years. What to do..
However, during those years, Beadwindow was engaged as the in-house (but remotely working) Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager for an offshore and airborne surveying company. Then the (safety) penny dropped. A new passion was discovered.
After the last COVID lockdown was finalised, it was back to barbering. Lots of conversations with clients; who were mainly business owners and managers; revealed many businesses approached safety management with the same degree of luck as the ship's care-free navigator inside an ocean minefield..
And here we are.
Where should we meet? Online, phone, office, job site - whatever works for you. We know you're busy.
